Mike Johnston, Senior Pastor
Pastor Mike began serving at Pleasant Home Community Church in September 2017. He and his wife, Katy were married in January 2005 in Estacada, OR and have four children. Prior to coming to PHCC, Mike served in youth and children's ministry for over a decade. He completed his undergraduate at Multnomah Bible School (2011), before receiving his Masters of Divinity from The Master's Seminary (2017). It is Mike's passion to connect people to God through His Word. He also finds pleasure in spending time with his family, running and being outdoors.
Ryan Wethern, Assoc. Pastor
Pastor Ryan came to PHCC in February 2021. He and his wife, Becky, have been married since January 2006, and they have four children. From 2006 to 2013, Ryan served in youth ministry in Reno, NV, and it was there that he realized his need for more training. Upon moving to Southern California, Ryan completed his undergraduate degree in Biblical Counseling at The Master’s University (2016) and his Master of Divinity at The Master’s Seminary (2020). Ryan is ACBC Certified, loves the Word of God, and seeks to teach its sufficiency and power to transform lives. Ryan enjoys basketball, motocross, and playing fun games with his family.
Jason Evans, Youth Pastor
Jason has attended PHCC since 2014. He and his wife, Emily, were married in 2009 and have six children. Jason is currently serving as the Youth Pastor for PHCC. It's his desire to encourage students to build a strong foundation of faith and knowledge in God's Word. In his free time, Jason enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors.
Jason Mills, Assoc. Pastor
Jason has been at PHCC since the summer of 2011. He and his wife, Lisa, have two daughters. Jason desires to faithfully serve the local church and seeks to disciple men to be complete in Christ, using their spiritual gifts and talents to serve the local body and the universal body around the world. He loves spending time with his family, reading, and being in the outdoors. Some of his favorite books are: “Holiness” by JC Ryle, “Communion with God” by John Owens, and "Knowing God" by J.I. Packer.
David Salseth, Elder
David has been a member of PHCC since 1974. He and his wife, Carolyn, have been married for 43 years and have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. He graduated from Westmont College and Western Seminary with a passion to be involved in the Great Commission. He ministered in the D.R. of the Congo with WorldVenture for 16 years. The last 21 years he has been serving international students in the Portland area with Missions Door. He loves mountain climbing, big game hunting, motorcycles, soccer and the Portland Trailblazers. A few of his favorite books are “One Church Many Tribes” by Richard Twiss, “Another Hand On Mine: The Story of Dr. Carl K. Becker” by William Petersen, “Tender Warrior” by Stu Webber and “The Invisible War” by Donald Grey Barnhouse.
Syd Brestel, Elder
Syd earned his undergraduate degree in New Testament Greek from The Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and a master in Old Testament Literature from Western Seminary in Portland. He has served as lead pastor in four churches over a period of 50 years. His passion is teaching the Bible by encouraging students to “get into the story.” He has authored the book published by Moody Press, God in His Own Image: Loving God for Who He is Not Who We Want Him to Be.
Backpacking and fishing were his hobbies. Today he enjoys Sudoku, mentoring men and writing posts for standingonthepromise.com
Mary and Syd have two sons, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. They enjoy living in Troutdale close to grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jonathon & Barb were married in 1994 and have 3 daughters. Jonathon grew up at PHCC, but they have been attending as a family since 2013, after moving back to the area. Barb likes working quietly in the background, helping things run smoothly, and has been the part-time secretary since 2015, adding bookkeeping a year later. Barb enjoys crochet, knitting, and sewing.
